If you have the money to burn, no. If you are tight on cash, then my first question is....why are you doing it that way?
-
Nothing wrong with getting it on your own as long as you can pass the road test.
But, without a proper school....do you have a carrier that is willing to take you?
Once you get your CDL - the clock ticks. If you don't start driving soon for a carrier, you will find
they will want you to take a refresher course...
So keep that in mind if you don't have something pending- -
Depends if you have a job to go to or not. If you do and their insurance accepts you it doesn't matter where or how you got it. If you are applying at one of the otr starter fleets they may not recognize it or make you take some training through them to prove your skills. Once you have some good experience you'll probably never be asked where/how you got your license.

getting it on your own beats the bs a driving school will teach you....getting it own your own will give you a better chance of being a trucker and not a wheel holder....LMAO....but you will have a harder time getting started....
cableclown and sleeve62 Thank this. -
