I want an OTR road and have a few obstacles to climb over, but all in all are there more OTR positions than others? I would think so because most people have families and wives they don't want to be away from.
Is it easier to find an OTR job vs regional and local?

My experience still being a rookie, yes there are all kinds of OTR jobs with all levels of experience required. But if you look hard enough at the local spots, you can find them out there for rookies. Around here the trade off is local gives best hometime, but lower wages, OTR far less hometime, but greater reward.

Yes, by far. Just throw a rock and you will hit an OTR company that is hiring.
John Dewart, Puppage and Giuseppe Ventolucci Thank this. -
Yes, it is easier to land an OTR job. One reason is due to sheer numbers of trucks in large, OTR-type truckload fleets. The other reason is that there is typically greater turnover in OTR positions, even within the same company versus their local counterparts.

Or if he happens to be near a major hub he could get a line haul job averaging 2500 miles a week at $0.50 a mile and be home every day

You already said you want OTR, so go for it. If you don't like it, then go local later.Last edited: May 20, 2016
