OTR jobs are easier to come by but not necessarily good OTR jobs. Likewise with local or regional jobs...there are lots of crappy ones or ones that just don't pay that much. I'd rather give up being home every day or night for an OTR or regional job where the boss was cool and money and equipment were good.
Is it easier to find an OTR job vs regional and local?

I tried it and couldn't handle it. Less time to myself and micromanaged out the ###. I'm home a couple days a week now and that's not a bad balance by I still get that itch to keep going some weeks.Chinatown Thanks this.

we should get all the homeless ppl in the country in these OTR jobs problem solved lol i didnt like it

The homeless would have a much easier time transitioning to grocery warehouse workers; they would fit right in with no training required; especially the ones with mental illness.

Good plan, except if they wanted a steady job, they could have one already.Chinatown Thanks this.

After 3 years OTR, I took a local job. After the 2nd week, I called the boss and told him I had made a mistake. I took a month off looking for the "right" job. Now running OTR again, but regional. Excluding the short 2 week local gig, this is just the 2nd company I've driven for and hope to stay here a long time. I stay out 3-4 weeks at a time because I want to (grown kids, no wife). The company would rather I reset every week at home and my dispatcher ends up working harder to keep me running over the weekends, but I like knowing I have that option when the time comes. My priorities right now are geared toward stashing cash. If I reach my goals, finding another wife and going home more or getting off the road will be easy.

I couldn't resist. I just had to follow that link.

It's a good website. Found my wife, in the avatar, on that website. Oh, yeah, 30 years younger; I can deal with it. I know some other truckers that did the same. My wife says, "Don't tell anyone how we met."
So, keep this a secret Bob.Bob Dobalina Thanks this.
