How would lowering the landing gear help with sliding tandems?.

I once saw a driver pulling a stepdeck lower his landing gear while he waited to back into a dock. Gravel lot. When he started moving, the landing gear plowed through the gravel. I yell at him to notify him that his landing gear was down. He told me that he does this to give the trailer more stability. I didnt argue...my trailer doesn't have any landing gear so I am no expert on the landing gear stuff. It doesn't make sense to me, but who am I to question landing gears?

I know it's hard to believe but it doesn't hardly shorten their life.

That reminds me. I saw a guy with a stretch RGN load get high-centered, and unlock his 5th wheel slide to get unstuck.
