    Hi guys and gals,
Some of the companies here in GTA when hiring owner operators (for long haul) want a truck that weighs 19500 lbs or less with both tanks full of fuel. I used to own a 2010 Cascadia (14.8 l DD15, 150 Gallons x 2 for fuel tanks, no DEF, no moosebumpers or APU) that weighs 20900 lbs (full of fuel and includes my weight 200 lbs and 8 tire chains). I replaced that truck with a 2013 Cascaida (DD15, 150 Gallons x 2 for fuel tanks, 25 Gallons DEF tank, no moosebumpers or APU) and it weighs 20900 lbs (Full of fuel, includes my weight 200 lbs, without the chains). I know DEF weighs app 9 lbs/Gallon. Just curious to find out if there is a truck out there that meets these requirements. How much do your trucks weigh. Please mention if it is Day cab, DPF or SCR or a pre-2007. Also please mention if you have add ons like moose bumpers or APU's.Thanks

Get 100 gallon tanks on each side instead of the 150
so that drops 800lbs in fuel weight and however much the smaller tanks weigh.

Thanks landshark. Just trying to figure out if EPA compliance is adding weight to the trucks

That one of the reasons i went with a 2013 glider and pre-egr engine. Combined with 100 gal fuel tanks, my tractor come in, fully loaded with fuel, at just over 17K lb. With the dry box I pull, I can comfortably put 48K in the box before I need to worry about being over 80K. I can beat all the company trucks, with all their emissions and other nonsense, by over 2000 lb what I can haul more than they can. And I have a grill guard on the truck, dual drive axles with full lockers in them. Am running a midroof instead of a condo, but it still is a 70" sleeper. Don't have an APU, since i cannot justify the cost of having one since I have limited need for it. Am using wide based rubber, so that saves a little weight. but also have a sliding 5th that adds weight, so it is almost a wash there. Using an 18 speed which is heavier. I guess if you have to use a DEF/DPF type of EPA truck, then you have to find creative ways to reduce weight. I run no where that I needed that stuff, so went with glider and pre-egr.

Some here have to really take up a remedial reading program. I said I "can" put 48K in the box before I would worry about being at 80K, I never said I "did". The most I have put in that box with this truck is around 46K. I realize that you may try to get all the light loads, as do I, but I work for some customers that are solid, reliable ones that have need to occasionally put a heavier load in the box. The average payload in the box is probably in tbe 32K area. I only guarantee a customer that I can haul up to 46K. Nice to know if their weights are off a little, I will not have to find out 30 miles down the road that I am over gross and have to go back and get some taken off.
