    Thanks daf105paccar,
When I first started pulling "big" trailers, I had asked an instructor AND also a mechanic (International, it figures), if there was anything on a trailer's air brake system that proportions air according to load (mt vs loaded), similar to proportioning valves on autos (front vs rear) or (electric) brake application control units on small 16' utility trailers. Both stated no. Load didn't matter, according to them. Goes to show even the one's that you think would know... don't.
I'll be reading up on this info, as I don't like catching myself short-handed on knowledge on any truck part or system.

Just glad I didn't go as far to say "If you prove it, I'll eat a used oil filter".:biggrin_25523:

What is wrong with you? You have a lot of nerve coming on here quoting law and regulation. Its much more fun to read peoples "opinion" of how it "should" be... LOL. Thanks for ruining my fun!

I had a trailer impounded for 15 days in one jurisdictions for failed brake adjustments (strict laws) and I have to totally agree with Casual Trucker Tickets are issued for much less then what you are dealing with. Get the owner to fix it before hooking up to it. Period. Put it out of service.
