Is it just me or are young adults under the age of 25 just plain lazy?

I encourage you to have a 10-12 year old apply for a job at mcdonalds or any of those other jobs, see how that pans out... turns out the laws are against it in case you're too lazy...

And as i said, the only 2 viable options you gave (snow/lawns) have a very narrow availability range depending on geography, neighborhood and community trust (a thing that has also taken a nosedive since the 80s)

Live in the world that exists and open your eyes, dont think that today is just as it was 15-30 years ago and its just the kids that got lazy.

Nice that you have a neighborhood with some degree of community trust, if you dont think that is a factor, you should step back and think about it a bit

I think the thing that eventually emerges in threads like this is: a lot of people post up about what can't be done, while only a few mention what can.

I'm not judging. I have certainly run up on truly insurmountable obstacles in my life a time or three, so I get it. Just pointing out that more people tend to focus on rationalizing failure than finding success. I try to catch myself doing the former and turn it into the latter.

I saw an article not long ago where McDonalds is trying to get states to allow them to hire 14 year olds in non cooking positions.

In WI you need to be 18 to work at gas station or convenience store as you need to be 18 to sell cigarettes or booze. The other places will hire you, but are the hours compatible with school and are they willing to pay you enough to make it worth your while?

One of my high school friends decided to quit his mcjob his senior year. He figured out that the job was only paying him a little more than his car insurance was costing him. He could park the car, dump the insurance and work the Christmas tree lot and be in the same place financially at graduation.

I'm not saying it can't be done, I'm saying it's different than it was. There are a lot of paradigms that just aren't valid anymore. A college degree used to be a guarantee of a solid income. Internships used to lead to job opportunities. Part time jobs in high-school used to pay well enough to pay for a car, insurance, and a savings account to pay for college.

Not making any judgements either - just saying what was isn't what is.

Television irritates me immensely. I found a television show that I do like, called “Roadkill.” My issue with it is this commercial they bombard with the show.
The male has to start an argument and the female has to have the last word. An argument over cheese sticks….how incredibly stupid. If she likes cheese sticks, why should I argue?

Now, that’s probably the biggest difference between the old school guys guys and the younger guys. Arguments. Old school didn’t argue.

When I was young, you wanted to date a girl, you had to have a Man to Man with her Dad. Scary…going inside of another Man’s house to talk to him about his little girl. Uncles, cousins, brothers, the whole clan was there. Yea, masculinity may be toxic nowadays, but it sure as hell protected the women.

Speaking of protection, a few months back, I heard some young people debating as to whether or not a woman can be a protector for a man. Simple answer is NO, those two aren’t Men. A Man will not allow his lady to face dangers while he hides and waits for ADT to call. Of course, I didn’t join the debate. Dinosaurs don’t debate. They just quietly go extinct.

That's the thing it's not just large companies, almost everyone I know in my area as soon as they get extra money they start looking for ways to get "passive income" mainly buying houses renting them out and expecting the Tennant's to foot the bill for everything essentially.

Im not saying that things today are as they *should* be, but pointing to how they are, something that people seem to not realize.

I prefer to step back, stop and think on how to acheive a goal, but i do have to take into consideration reality...

I was fortunate to be able to work since age 8, but only could because my parents owned the company.
