is it just me, or does disaster strike after missing a turn, or taking a wrong turn?

I have a good feeling about this detour. :)

My last missed turn was because I thought the turn was further down the road, and I was watching traffic more than road signs.
My GPS rerouted me, and since I had no other directions I followed it.
When it told me to turn right I slowed and prepared to, only to be cut off by a motor cop. So I stayed there as he got off his bike and came up to me.
He told me that I was not on the correct route, and that I was over-length for the road I was about to turn on to.
He didn't think I could even make the right turn.
We stayed there for about 10 minutes discussing the options - like doing a U-turn in the intersection or going another way.
Long story short... he let me go that way after I assured him I could make the turn.
Sometimes, local cops can be your friend.

Another time I missed the driveway into the shipper. I found myself driving another 20 miles before I found a place I could turn the truck around safely.

    These things happen.
But, as in the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy... DON'T PANIC!!!
Take it one step at a time, and slowly.
If you can pull over safely, do it and assess your situation. If not you drive until you either find another safe route or a place with enough room to turn around.
Or, you might be stuck with backing up along the road because it is too dangerous to go forward.
That happened to me once, as well.
