Is it legal to have alcohol in my toolbox on the outside of the truck as long as it’s not open? I am an OTR driver. Going from east to west, vice versa.

The only alcohol legally allowed to be on a commercial vehicle, had best be in the trailer and had best have a bill of lading with it …Otherwise you’re in trouble.

You've got 3 different versions of "it's illegal." I don't need to add a 4th. Make sure you heed these words!

Question 3: Does the prohibition against carrying alcoholic beverages in §392.5 apply to a driver who uses a company vehicle, for personal reasons, while off-duty?
Guidance: No. For example, an owner-operator using his/her own vehicle in an off-duty status, or a driver using a company truck or tractor for transportation to a motel, restaurant, or home, would normally be outside the scope of this section.aussiejosh, Another Canadian driver, jamespmack and 3 others Thank this. -
Why not ask your safety director? You've already given your name, company name, and your image.
