Stop at a truck stop and look at an atlas there if you don't want to buy one. But they come in handy and are also good to put across the steering wheel to use for a writing table.
Last Call, bzinger and Another Canadian driver Thank this. -
No limits specified, according to this anyway.
Kingpin to Rear Axle Maximums – Big Truck GuideLast Call, nikmirbre and Another Canadian driver Thank this. -
In some states yes and others no. I think my state called the violation an "overlength violation." Lots of newbies only know 2 positions for the tandems, fully forward and fully back until they get a ticket.bzinger Thanks this.

overall length, no problem
king pin to trailer tandems, real axle or center of axles, ect. east coast has limits. -
In those 3 states you’ll be fine. ID is the only one that has limits if you’re off the National network routes.
-
Unfortunately that's one I found wrong for Michigan, so to me the whole page isn't trustworthy.
-
I know Tennessee has a kingpin to rear bumper or rear axle limit
I think a 53 van is ok but a 53 triple axle RGN that doesn’t have the adjustable kingpin is about 8 inches over the limit , and they WILL cite you for it if they are paying attention when you roll through the scale .tscottme Thanks this.
