Regarding logbook issues, your best source of information is the DOT itself. www.fmcsa.dot.gov/regulations/hours-service/logbook-examples-pdf . .If the government does it in their own examples, it should be legit. Plus if you have the pdf to show authorities, that will be proof you did your logbook legally.
