Is it me or is it time to ban recap tires from on-highway use?

One place I was at had a couple vac trucks with that. I didn't care for it.

 

My only hope at this point is that I'm as smart as you think you are. What does 6 or 7 years have to do with where I go genius?

I think he thought you only ran out one set a recaps in 6-7 years. Not multiple sets.

After a while, you can identify the Bandag tread design from 100 yds at 60 mph......

 

Michelin, Bridgestone, and GoodYear own all the big retread companies in the world and retread 1000’s of tires weekly. New virgin tires have the cap rolled on them just like a retread does. Only difference is a new tire goes through a mold/ curing oven to mold the sidewall style and lettering and burn in the tread patterns. A recap all ready has pattern and goes through a recurring oven.
