I'm going to have to go with Stevens or Werner. If You had your choice which would you choose? I'm going with Stevens. Not because their better but because its the luck of the draw (sooner is better) if you know what I mean. No other way. I got to get a job and thats the bottom line. I can put up with most bull#### so thats not a problem. Orientation starts Jan. 11, 09. Wish me luck. Please (p.s. Is anybody out there starting at the same time - lets get aquainted)
Is it possible there is a positive for Stevens

Good luck, Jimmy. Let us know what's up with with you.

Jimmy-
Stevens aint so bad if you can survive the training pay. After that you'll get lots of miles. A buddy of mine is still there, he bought his own truck and went back as an o/o. The DM's and planners are telling him they dont have enough trucks for all the loads they have. Just remember, DO NOT VOLUNTEER ANYTHING TO THE DOCTORS DURING YOUR PHYSICAL.
Try to meet as many people in your class as possible as you'll be with one of them for 3 weeks in a truck. You get to choose who but it just makes it easier to decide when the time comes.
Try to bring some cash with you for food. theres a roach coach out by the drivers lounge all day thats reasonabe and better than the chow they provide.
If you'd like to ask me anything about Stevens let me know.
Good Luck Manjimmy777 Thanks this. -
Hi guys I got accepted to stevens training program for Dec 8th and im still unsure about it after reading entries on here what can you tell me
-
Alot of what is on here is blown way out of proportion. Some of it is true but don't believe everything you read. Give me a shout for honest answers. NO I don't work for them any more but their not as bad as some may lead you to believe

You will hear one of two things about ANY company..
the idiots that screwed up and twist facts
- they bash companies
the hopeful new guys who are trying to remain positive
- they praise companies
The average Joe out there making a living does not have much to say.
ALL of the companies that hire students are about the same - most every company of this type run the same style of operation with small differences
those small differences are what you need to look for - and determine which ones suit you better.jimmy777 and beagleboy1968 Thank this. -
Thanks LATANEA - I'm sure what you have said is closer to the truth. Thats why I started this thread. I'm trying my best to get to the bottom of what is more important to know about these companies that hire straight out of school with a few weeks training at their expense or ours which ever way you look at it. If a company is hiring throngs of people just to WEED-OUT then I definitly don't want to work for them. Not even one day. But if a company is hiring at a regular pase and some make it and some don't than thats just a normal fact of life. You take a chance - You bet with the odds and hopefully all will work out in the end. If your reading this and saying; He's got the right attitude - than I want to hear from you. But if you've got a bad attitude than nothing is good enough and everything will be negitive. I don't care to hear about it - life is too short to worry all the way through it.

To anyone out there going to the Jan. 11th Stevens orientation - Good Luck.
-
Thanks also to Stevens Sucker - I think I know what you mean about not volunteering anything to the doctors. But just in case I'm wrong - What did you mean, exactly? Also - How much of the training pay will be sent home for the family? And how much of it will I need to live on while on the road?
