If you go to work/get hired to a company and have your own truck, is it possible to hire on with that company as a company driver, rather than an O/O, and be able to drive your own truck that you've bought/are making payments on, instead of having to drive a company truck? Thanks for the input, everyone! :biggrin_25525:

Not that I know of, and the only reason I could see to do that for is the benefits. The closest thing to being a company driver while owning your own truck is to lease on with said company, although you are still an O/O. I don't think there are any companies that will manage your truck/business for you.

At company driver wages, I couldn't see you being able to make your payments and still be able to pay yourself.

Leasing YOUR truck to a company to haul THEIR freight isn't too bad of an idea, depending on the company.

Leasing a truck FROM THEM to haul THEIR freight is where everybody gets in trouble.

Who pays to fix the truck when it breaks down under such a scenario?

Isn't driving the truck you own for a company known as being an OWNER-OPERATOR? that is kinda a "Duh" question

I think, if I read his post right, he wants all the expenses of being an O/O but with company driver pay. :biggrin_25526:

I think he wants O/O benefits with the minimal responsibilities of a company driver.

Ok.... I'm not interested in doing/persuing any such thing. My reason for asking was simply out of curiosity. Thanks for making me feel "DUH-mb" over a harmless question.

Sure most companies offer a lease purchase program. Its your truck you make the payments on it, but they own it and you never will.:biggrin_25516:
