I have really been putting thought and research into being a trucker after high school. I have researched it, learned a little bit about the lifestyle and what I would face. My question is would it be possible to have a side business working on computers?

Yes, if you can stuff all them parts in the truck along with your clothes and everything, and then work on the stuff when you're supposed to be sleeping, and then able to sell your stuff on the 2 or 3 days you have at home once a month.

Depends on what type of computer business , Kind of hard to solve a system crash for a client in NJ when your travelling across Arizona on a hot load with no TIME.

I want a career with computers, but something about trucking just draws me in. The way you put it, it would be impractical. I may just stick with what i feel like i should be doing, and be a truck driver.

as a company driver at first,it would be hard to find time to tinker with any puters in the truck.im new on puters but wrench on vehicles and been driving since high school.i do know if you live in a company truck they will keep you in that rig for a minimum of 2weeks.they will either push you so hard you cant breath after a few days or you'll get a dispatcher thats an idiot and starves you out.its feast or famon when you first start.now, when you make it to having earned the respect of those morons in the office, you'll have some time on your hands.if you ever go so far as to buy your own truck...with the right plan, you could run a puter shop out of the truck if you wanted to..

lets remember if your just getting out of HS you have to be over 21 to drive interstate. In state is less but most OTR companies want you to be 23 or better.
If you were my son I would tell you go get a computer degree then go drive a truck
then when you want to settle down you have something to fall back on and be homeA21CAV Thanks this. -
With all honesty, With all the new regulation, Would be quite hard to do, Well?, Unless you dont need any down time, Remember the body needs rest, and driving can be very tire-some, Being a rooky driver at the start?, I would recommend you concentrate on driving, you can get a intrastate CDL at 18, but you need to be 21 for a inerstate CDL
