Had a cap come off a grain wagon once, didn't even get the mudflap, but it did leave tread marks straight up the entire back of the trailer. Casing was still intact on that one.

I have seen multiple "run-flat incident"(s) -- the most recent of which I attempted five times to convey tag number to 911 while running 55-60 ( posted limit ) with vehicle [18-wheel] just ahead of me + passenger vehicles all around ~ truck had a mechanical failure of some kind that had tire skidding, which had already failed ....
I found 911 to be a greater threat to public health and safety due to "follow procedure" which was to obtain a description of the problem before stating any facts of that instance - after 5 attempts { ^^FAILED^^ } to convey the tag number I cussed them out and pulled into dispatch at municipal police in which failure event occurred, described the problem then stated I would only talk to badged officer on the matter from that moment forward.....
yes, definite, run-flat incidents are remarkably common ...... -
I had a trailer tire go on the rear axle of my spread. I only noticed it by looking in my mirror. No change in handling and no sound. By the time a found a safe place to park a few miles down the road, the inside sidewall (it was the outside tire) was basically cut in half. The outside sidewall was the only thing holding it on, somehow still on the bead.

Blew a #9 axle inside tire on the right side loaded w/ a Super LinkBelt. Freight hauler behind me saw it explode and got me on the horn. That far back (80 ft. or so)not likely you'll every feel it,see it or hear it.

I had one blow last summer while parked as I was walking back to my truck from the truck stop. I stopped to eat at the Savoy truck stop near Demming NN. It was about 105F that day. Walking back to my truck I heard a pop. Looked around thinking someone popped one turning. Did a walk around and found out it was mine. Air was still hissing out.

Some years ago, I blew an inside trailer tire without realizing it. That is, until I pulled into the truckstop for the evening, made a sharp turn to set up for my back, and blammo! The outside went when it overflexed.
THEN I knew it.....

I think I would have backed out of it or hit an exit instead of running "just behind" the truck with a flat. Doubt I would call the cops either. He will end up on the side of the road eventually without my phone call while I am driving down the road.LaBubba Thanks this.
