This is why it's a good idea to have a CB and leave it on incase you're tire starts shredding or anything while driving.I'm sure one driver would get on the CB and tell you.
Is it possible to be unaware you blew out a tire?

About 1/3 to 1/2 of my tire failures have been very quiet. The first one I had neither me or the trainer noticed it happend, even though we were not talking or listening to radio.

Yeah I have done it as well.... If the tire just goes flat without popping then it's easy to miss it... I loaded up and my tires we all fine when I left the yard.... I drove 2hrs to my destination.. Got out to unload my material and go around to check the tires again sure enough I had a inner flat tire... When the tire guy came and took it off I noticed that the tire was just running around the rim (it wore the paint on the rim because tire was just freely spinning... Being a inside tire I never seen it.. Not to mention that the trailer had 16 tires on it so I really didn't notice...
One of our guys has a outer flat tire.. He didn't know it was flat (or very low) and went around a corner and the tire just rolled of the rim and sat flat on the ground.. It just popped off the bead... Pretty crazy..
Now with my new trailer (it's got tiny little 17.5" rims) we small tires.. I have the automatic air system on the tires so it keeps a maintains the PSI in the tires.. So on the front of trailer there is a light that tells you if you have a leak... If the light stays on for more then 10-15secs then there is a problem... -
Running down I95 near dc one night and had a trailer tire blowout and sounded like a bomb went off and when i look in my mirror i seen this 4wheeler who had been tagging along beside me go 3 lanes over and almost into the median woods scared him so bad-bet he won't be driving beside no big trucks any time soon.

you can loose a trailer tire without knowing it. tractor not so likely. most the time you will know but at times you may not know for a few miles or even till your next stop esp. on rough roads at night. i once blew a inside trailer tire and would have never known if it wasn't for a 4 wheeler of all things honking and pointing at my trailer.

I lost a portion of the cap on an inside trailer tire that didn't make enough sound to hear. I could feel it though. It wasn't much but it didn't feel right so I pulled over to check.
I've pulled on a ramp a few times thinking I had tire problems but it ended up just being that particular stretch of road giving it a certain feel. A stretch on 80 in Nebraska always feels the same as the night I lost that cap. Better safe than sorry.kubotaorange76 Thanks this. -
about a year ago i blew a tire while going through a small town. i didnt know any tire places so i used the google on my phone to get some phone numbers. i ended up calling this place that was about 5-6 blocks away from me when the the tire blew. when i called them, the dude was like, "were you the guy that just made that huge noise, you made the whole town shake"

Pfffffffft that's child's play. While back I pulled in a long side a guy missing an entire tandem. Yep, snapped it off at the hub, both tires and wheels gone. He was crapping lil green apples and kept asking me if he thought they'd fire him. His best guess was he lost it in Ok, we were in Ks.
In fairness he had just come through a bad thunderstorm.

Friend of mine was telling me last week: he was running with a guy the friday nite before, late nite..talking on the radio. Guy tells him he's losing a cap, pieces of rubber are coming up every so often.. he runs virgins so gets real
. they pull over look everything up n down, can't find any problems. few miles down the road guy tells him it's happening again. Bout that time my friend realizes that the whole time he was chewing on bbq ribs nd throwing the bones out the window
been bouncing bbq sauce bones off the front of the other guys truck lmao

I had a blown trailer tire and didn't even know it because I didn't hear anything, didn't feel anything and since it was at night, I didn't see anything. I found out that morning after a nice state trooper pulled me over to let me know about it.
