But, they’re point-to-point, with a D&H on the other end. You guys have been in business forever, have strategic locations, a streamlined process, etc. Whereas, the OP will make a delivery in some hellish area, bounce to another hellish area, load, then, hopefully get going. Too many variables.

A lot used to do one a day, usually try to get 3 rds per week. Multi axle covered wagons. They made good money at it. About twice as much as a dry van running 2500 miles a week. A lot of tire cost, shorter engine and driveline life. I would check on how much steel loads there are these days. If any. Used to a lot out of US Steel and Ford Rouge. That’s all it used to be. Making money was a no brainer. Now it’s all about Intermodal. Detroit gets the Canadian Containers. Everything going west goes through Chicago. Great big yard south of Chicago. Projected growth numbers are very high. A lot of it runs 24/7.

True. One live load or unload makes it practically impossible.

I go to Lowell,IN everyday to Detroit make it back every time with time to spare. I know already I miss the Chicago traffic but that's just how I want it. I ran Chicago for too many years. You definitely need drop/hook to have a realistic chance of make it back everyday.

But, I-65 and I-94 are such a roll of the dice…the idiots playing with everyone’s lives. It was rough up there, last week.

Nice ride in your profile pic, if that’s yours.

You can do it if you have a fixed pickup and drop off, but if you are picking loads off a load board, forget it.

You buy a truck for less Stress not more. 600 miles a day easy as pie. But that's straight and at night.
Who know you might fall into a great routine. But on the spot market any thing constistnt is rear from what IV been told

Depends on time of day and time required to load and unload. Certainly doable but on ELOG i can see frequent issues due to traffic
Traffic volume my area at 7am…you wont have this luxury:) 6475832A-C026-49AF-85C6-04711182CD3A.jpeg
