Rent DVD's or buy, watch, swap with other drivers.
Digital TV, Sat Radio Antenna make finding something to watch/listen to a snap.

You are my kind of guy. I'm sure it's tough work, but someone has to perpetuate the stereotype of truckers as reprobate man-######. Maybe I'll be joining you soon. Imagine how fast the little black book would fill up if I uploaded a personal ad along the lines of, "Tall, handsome trucker with lonely heart seeks just one special lady to settle down with after years of saving money I have no idea what to do with."

By the way, to the poster in this thread who PMed me: I haven't been able to respond to you yet because my post count isn't high enough. I'll get back to you as soon as I get there.

on the plus side.. if you live in the truck and know people scattered around the country you could possibly pick a 'tax home' that has no state income tax and thus make just that bit more each year AND save on tax prep since to state return needs to be done.

not sure how that would affect things like being routed home by a company or anything though.

    1) if the truck is in the shop overnight, the company usually pays for the room. if not.... tax deduction.
    2) if a truckstop has a place inside like mc donalds, that is usually free wifi. otherwise we just get it a month at a time for $20 at petro/ta or flying j/pilot. the close you get to the main building, the better the signal. that is up in the air as to whether or not it is a deduction.
3)we have a 2500 watt inverter that we bought and put on the truck(deduction). we run our tv/dvd off of it. also our coffee pot, crock pot, microwave, toaster oven, electric skillet, gf grill, or whatever other small appliance we put on the truck. we just dont have them all at once.
