Fair warning on schneider from some one who drove intermodal for them, your gonna be sitting a lot, not because they dont have freight (Schneider has a ridiculous amount of available freight) but because they are using leased chassis's, some weeks you wont have to deal with a single broken chassis but those weeks will be rare. Expect to loose about 10 hours per week dealing with bad chassis's, on bad weeks more like 15. I wouldn't sign with them until they finish getting their own chassis's rolled out in about a year or so then it will be much smoother sailing.

If I got 1 dollar a mile, plus fsc, I would never pull a load again! My mileage was around 630 round trip. Around $1,000 per trip, 4 a week and fuel being about $1,500 a week.

Chicago is the best area to run rail containers. The eastern railroads run no further west, and the western ones also terminate in Chicago. There are more than 20 intermodal terminals here. Getting an empty reminds me a little of Columbia, but loaded are pretty good.
