Dang!
Heaviest I've pulled was 99,700 on a 100k permit. -
No answer about $1,400_$2,200 being gross or net. If it's gross...that completely blows...those thinking of becoming O/O note.... $2,200 a week gross BLOWS. You cannot survive as an O/O making that little. Even if it's NET, when you calculate it out...youd be better off driving someone else's truck if that's all you can net.
As for "tearing up your truck"...this fool is running 112Klbs loads, his permit is for 100k. If he gets an overweight ticket, in IL...itd be $6,000.
He IS tearing up his equipment. 112k load is making EVERYTHING work harder. Motor, turbo, rears, shocks, suspension, frame, brakes, tires.
I've run away from these loads. They promise "Oh...youll gross $4,000 a week!"...sure, that SOUNDS great, but, look at all the EXTRA wear and tear your putting on your truck ...look how much more fuel your using. I dont know what you run, but, imagine the operator with the dinky 11 or 12 liter motor trying to run overweight. Those motors can't handle it!
I hear LOTS of O/O's tell me..."Oh, my rig can pull it!". I'm more worried about, can your rig STOP the load????? -
Bro that person has to be talking about net pay. Some of you guys running the road netting the same amout, the great thing about trucking everybody can choose what they want to do, some people wants to run 3000 to 3500 miles per week and be away from home some don't mind running local.
Yes some cans are overweight and some time you don't know the weight until you get to the port.
I run about 1000 miles per week not all loads are heavy. I probably put less wear and tear on my truck a week than the guy running 3000 miles.
Anything at all you are doing can tear up your truck if you don't know how to drive it and you don't maintain it.Last edited: May 1, 2017

There are very few jobs running for someone else that pay $1,400-$2,200 a week, especially ones where you sleep in your own bed.

There are plenty of six figure + jobs driving someone else's truck...and be home nightly. Based on your numbers, your not even making that ..figure in all the benefits you DON'T get for free, the cost of replacing your truck and the fact you are 100% at risk, like I said, you'd be better off driving for someone else! At least if you got hurt in a wreck, you'd still have an income. On your own, what have you got? That's why you need to be netting WAY more, you want to own a truck, pay yourself a respectable wage and still make a decent profit. It can be done, and STILL be home nightly.

Plenty of six figure driving jobs, and home nightly? I'd like to know about them beside buster Brown. Estes? Saia? YRC? Yes those jobs are available, but I wouldn't consider those plenty!HalpinUout Thanks this.

Considering this is a intermodal thread, name one company that you can make six figures doing intermodal as a company driver?
