MHC is certainly a well know, huge dealership. I'm concerned for you, thinking that you might be putting too much emphasis on their "warranty".
Personally, if you have no plans to run CA, I'd stick with As low a mileage (or certified rebuilt) 2007 or older and stay away from DPF filters...unless you are a solid mechanic yourself, id go Caterpillar, no lousy EGR valve to mess with, or, plan to block it...Uglyegrfix works and is a low-cost solution.
If you have connections in Mexico, I'd think you could run that lane, but, your competing with the lowest end of the bizz. You'd do yourself better trying to fit into a niche that is high paying....definitely not intermodal, unless you want to be home every night or close to it.
Make sure you always have a good reserve of cash to pay for fuel and ultimately, the unexpected that WILL happen.
Good luck to you, stay positive and focused!
Is it possible to make good money hauling containers (intermodal)?
