DONT DO IT!!!!! The guy running that terminal is the hugest rip off artist in Chicago. Almost all the drivers are quitting or already have quit. It used to be a good company but now it's a revolving door. Go anywhere but there.

Anybody ever work out of Charleston's port? Also I've started on with a subcompany of Evans deliverys, they're a local 40year old company. I know alot of people have mixed feeling about that company overall. But is it Evans, or the little companies that people don't like?
I'll keep updates on my opinions.

Main issue with Evans is inconsistency, it's a agent based company, each terminal has a different "owner" with different rates/customers/rules. When you become an agent for Evans there is no real structure, just do as you do to make your buck.

Evans as a whole is great, plate program is $2400 yearly - way cheaper than any company around Chicago - Tire programs/paid tolls at some agents etc..

Best you can do is find a driver that's already working for that particular agent and ask them, instead of asking for peoples opinion of Evans period on the internet (everyone has their story).

Back on topic though, if you're not making money in 2017 in intermodal, change companies quick. Freight rates are going up, fuel sur charge is going up, haven't seen it this busy since probably 2014 after the polar vortex when every customer begged for help.

Having to much is a good thing. Got my work for next week. Charleston is the place to be. Numbers look real good.

I am looking to buy a truck and put a driver in it with own authority or lease. Does any one know of any companies around Wilmington NC to look for or stay away from.

I spoke to Roadrunner at one point about 18 months ago...liked what they said but didn't jump on...some things were changing for me, I called them back about 10 mo or maybe a year ago, all of a sudden, things didn't sound the same...not worth what they were offering. Could be it is the clown running it, could be just the way things are at Roadrunner. I never did join them.
