    Not yet.

At some point some gov't ninny may throw a tantrum and argue this is going around the Regime's scheme to save mankind saved from the scourge of "dirty" diesels by prolonging the existence of pre-emissions trucks on the highway...

Hasn't happened yet, but it won't surprise me if it does. I plan on running pre '04 emissions as long as possible.

I'm looking at all the problems the Acert Cat's have had and don't want any part of it. There is a reason behind all the complaints, the law suits and Cat exiting the on highway market altogether.

The SDP is the bad one but they can be "fixed" as well.

I would think you could pick up a late model Pete or kw with a SDP for considerably less than anything else.

You would be correct....... Most dealers around me won't take them in at any price .

If you dont run commyfornia an SDP is a viable option to be fixed. A local petrolium company here bought some new ones in 2011 and fixed them before they even went into service.$6K

Acerts have a better rotating assembly than any CAT ever produced. IMHO they have alot ofpotential.

All a 04-07 acert needs is a tune, I wouldn't trade my tuned acert for a 6nz. The 08-11 are the problem child's, but they can be fixed as well, just takes alot more money.

If you go the Bully Dog route like I did it will set you back around $2800, but you can turn it back to stock or tuned yourself anytime you want. I went that route in the event that if my truck was ever in a shop and they flashed the ecm I wasn't out anything other than the time to flash it back myself. Last I heard a PDI tune will set you back around $2600, and it is a one time deal, if the ecm goes bad or gets flashed, your tune and money are all gone.
