We are constantly hearing about that out here in Cheyenne, WY. Once I drove down I-25 from Cheyenne to the Colorado State Line (8 miles), and there were 5 trucks rolled over in that stretch, two of which were lined up nose to tail. They also say that I-80 from Cheyenne to Laramie is the deadliest stretch of interstate in the country. That stretch of road is closed more than its open it seems.

Yeah, the truck is a big sail also. I usually park into the wind or hide behind another truck or building.

To the OP, gusting wind is more dangerous. Besides bad weather, coming out of a tunnel means going through a mountain and popping out on top of a valley. High bridges are another. Wind gets compressed and gains speed in a valley. I once had an incident long ago where my trailer tires come about a foot off the ground on the I-77 tunnels coming out of WV into VA. Talk about a hairy situation. So you see it doesn't happen often.

Microbursts from a storm is another that gets many. I don't know the exact amount, but it takes a good 60-70 mph wind or better to get you. Then you have to figure out how heavy you are. A lighter trailer is more susceptible.

Running across the southwest desert in heavy winds can be fun. It's more of a steady wind. You just lean and counter steer.

It definitely seems crazy but really how dangerous is this to the driver's life? Anyone have any stats or anything? I'm assuming just minor scrapes if anything but I imagine if traveling at high speeds a blow over could be deadly?

If you are in those conditions, Why would you be traveling at high speed?

Think about how dumb people are, you think that every driver will slow down? Or it could just be one gust of wind that gets you, or you may not realize it's that windy. The guy in this video seems to be going at a decent speed. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vA16ivK6iDI&feature=player_embedded[/ame]

And it looks like the moron that filmed it didn't even slow down, except to get a little more footage.

I read that 55% of rollover's are fatal..but that doesn't seem right..can anyone who's had this experience share really how dangerous it is or is it not nearly as dangerous as it is scary? I'd probably be more afraid of another car or truck behind me hitting me after the rollover if it was on a highway.

Think about all the items in the cab and sleeper that will be flying around inside that cab.

Also the rocks, mirrors that come through the broken glass and the broken window.

    Yes rollovers kill.

Plus your are sitting about 5 feet higher than in a car and a few thousand pounds behind you wanting smack the back of your head for drivng in such conditions.
