You're injun. You may not need it but for people who have sinus issues and CPAP, an apu makes sense than idling. I believe the op is asking for advice to see if he can make things work. If not, I firmly believe he will be an asset wherever he goes.

Is it time to say goodbye Swift and move on?

APU is no longer required to run a CPAP. 12V models with low amperage pull have been on the market for a few years now. And I've met our O/P. He is in very good physical condition. He does not need a CPAP. Besides, this is a side issue not relevant to the discussion.
If Blue wants to stay with Swift and is looking for advice on how to do that successfully, then why are you weighing in on it?inkeper Thanks this. -
Injun no need to tell me what to do as started in this industry way back when trucking was totally different and no what to expect. Back then companies treated their drivers a hell of a lot better than they do now.
I only complain when I am not making any money and basically told to go sleep in the truck stop rather than idol the truck. You are a company girl for sure and seem to always think when someone is complaining then they must be just whining about nothing.
Swift? From what I am experiencing is more about the student drivers and not about the experienced driver. There is no reason for me to go from 2800 to 3400 miles a week down to about 1500 to 1700 every week.
There is no reason for a DM to even suggest I take my break in a truck stop at all.
I hardly ever complain to Swift I just say I need more miles I have bills to pay and I am tired of running these short little 200 to 300 runs over and over again that have way too much time on them. Any driver in my situation would ask for these things.
I'm not out here to sight see and eat crappy food and sleep in a hot truck! I am out here to make Swift money and in return I make money. I have no accidents,no tickets and the only service failure was the one I got when I was told to deliver it early.
Now it may just be the terminal I work out of or just my DM but I don't care I just want to make a decent check so I can support my family. I don't want to be harassed about idol when I only idol when I need too.
First thing I am going to is switch terminals and hope it gets better. Like I said before I drove OTR and regional for five years and have never experienced crap like this with any company I have worked for.
I will give them every opportunity to get things right before I decide to go somewhere else. I only complain when I have a legit reason to complain and I do not know why a company girl like you cannot see why!!! And you know what I mean!
You go right ahead and sleep with your windows open and invite someone into your truck that may have went to the next truck if your windows where up. For me I know better than to do this.
Plus it's hard to be positive about Swift when you are not making any money....... -
Perhaps if you posted something besides omplaints, my view would be different.
Are you still going to get that 780 with the APU? -
Injun is a L/P. How many miles are you getting Injun?
-
Average 2,700/week. Average check ...before taxes.... $1,100.
-
So after taxes and the other stuff you are making min wage or less.
-
Nope. I don't work that hard.
And minimum wage rate is before taxes.
Please find me a minimum wage job that pays $4,400/month. -
But that is before taxes.
-
Oh. I forgot to mention. That $1,100 is after subtracting the $270/week average I set aside for my own purposes.
