Is it worth buying a used 2013+ truck? Is it true there all lemons ? HELP

    I mean that's the 800,000 pound gorilla in the room of the freight industry.

    They are gestapo about being on time. So they spec their entire fleet with problem engines???

    C'mon.

    Even their Volvos have Cummins in them.

    I will say that our KW dealer is a big one. They are also volvo / Mack. Busy shop with about 18 bays plus a body shop. I’m in there shop at least 1 time a month for parts or dropping off / picking up company trucks. They have a section out back I drive right past every time that has core motors, rear ends and trans, waiting for pickup.

    I don’t ever recall seeing a motor out there that WASN'T red.

    There is always motors there for pickup..... always!

    I was at the Pete Store broke down for 4 days one time in WV. (Emissions problems) I wondered around that shop all day everyday. no where else to go. They had 7 Cummins motors waiting to be picked up. No black motors to be seen.

    Didn’t really put all this together till just this second?

    Which ones are black?

    I try and go to KW when I need something.

    No one is worse than Freightliner for getting a truck serviced, no one.

    Pacar and Mack at black as far as I know? Volvo is blue or green aren’t they?

    Strange I don’t think I’ve ever seen a core motor that wasn’t a ISX in the last 4 years?

    I don’t hang around Freightliner shops though and international won’t let you on the premises unless you go through the front door. Lol

    The FL shop in Oak Creek, WI is better regarded than their neighboring KW dealer, get you in more quickly.

    Fremont, IN is another.

    There are horror stories about every make and some of their dealers. Not having a variable geometry turbo is worthwhile to some as well.

    The techs at the KWs I've gone to don't like the Paccar.
    No first hand knowledge of any.
    The terminal I park my truck at, they have all newer 680s, and whatever model Pete that looks like the 680, I only park there, and I'm not there much, and at least 3 out of 4 times there's a RUSH service truck working on a Paccar engine.
    I'm assuming warranty, cause they have their own shop.

    I have 0 problem with paying to get the truck fixed, 0. But I want the truck fixed. Not spend $800 or $1,000 and have same problem and a BS story.

    The Volvo dealer in Phoenix is the most outstanding place, and Freightliner of Arizona has to be the worst dealer in the nation.
    They have pages, and pages of bad reviews, pages.

    Neighbors buy KW, have 3 or 4 with Paccar engines, no Cummins left. T 800s and a 880.
