I picked up the 2013 deluxe laminated spiral bound atlas for $35 at the Seven Feathers Truck stop in Canyonville Oregon on I-5.
I'm not a truck driver, but I do travel a lot and LOVE maps. IMHO anyone starting out should buy this atlas, since there is lots of state by state info that answers questions I didn't know where questions. I think if a new driver was to read every bit of information and drove a big rig across the country they would learn something that would save them $50 (or a lot more) the first trip.
The only bad thing I can say about the atlas is the size, if your not driving a semi it's hard to find a convenient storage place if you have a passenger. J
In all my years of travel, I have never been sad about having a map when I needed one.
Is it worth it to buy the Delux Truckers McNally Atlas?

I bought a cheap paper one for 12 bucks and can't live without. I plan my trip with dry erase marker on windshield and that is my backup to my GPS. U can't blindly follow a GPS or u will sorry

I just called my local Pilot center. They have the 2013 laminated for $30. Good deal.

Yeah and them high dollar GPS'S don't tell you about the various bridge laws or listing of restricted routes or low clearance bridges. as a matter of fact what the $#@% is the gps good for? My motor carrier atlas has never steered me wrong and calling for directions. Gets me there unscathed every time!

You can also get the large, about 3" paperclips too, so you can clip the sections of pages together to make it easier to find the state you are drivng through. I think Pilot carried them and then I saw some at Walmart recently. They come in real handy.

they are cheap these days since they also have a gps out. personaly. i will never go with out my map. even oif i get a gps the map shows the scales, rest areas and has so much good info like axle weights, state contact info which is great for when you have that load in the middle of nowhere and need to know if you can run the routes to get there or if you need to go 100 miles around to get there. As said many times the delux last a long time i still have maps from the 90's laying around that are in good condition
