Hmmm..... I have read every post on this thread.. not one of you sound as though you have run team long enough to know what you are talking about. Except for maybe x1heavy.
Running as a team during a training period does not qualify whether 3 weeks or 3 months ... I'm sorry but it don't. And I already know the reply I Will hear to this " it was enough for me" Right?
Well... learning to adjust and run as a team takes time, whether husband and wife or just 2 good friends such as me and my codriver. I have run teams With my mother yes you heard right my mother , my brother, my brother of another color. And some I just despised before I even climbed in the cab with them. IT TAKES TIME!!!
You will get on each other's nerves at times. Sometimes even little things will get to you. IT TAKES TIME!!!But after a while you learn to adjust ,things smooth out, you get a routine down, a schedule that works for the both of you, IT TAKES TIME!!! and then you will even refine that routine and schedule until it's perfect. IT TAKES TIME!!! The first 2 months I didn't think my codriver and I were going to make it. Slowly things started smoothing out IT TAKES TIME!!!
As far as the $$$$ ? well as was said before, depends who you work for. We leave home every Monday morning 7am on a dedicated route and back home by no later then 19:00 fri. usually earlier but no later then 19:00 fri. afternoon. 4 1/2 days around 5100-5200 miles a week depending on our backhauls. And will gross over 71k each this year. Home EVERY weekend.
Is it worth it? With the right company ,the right pay, the right company, the right codriver ,the right company, the right retirement, the right hometime, the right company, you darn Skippy it is. IT TAKES TIME!!! some longer than others, some not so long.
Did I mention it takes time ,and with the right company ,and the right codriver? Yes it really is worth it.
Is it worth it to do teams?

Life's too short to be waiting on "it takes time" for a half dozen issues to work out, that may or may not work out before a critical event may develop. Solo, the only issue you have to work out is how your a cappella voice works with the acoustics in your cab.
But do what you want. The more teams there are moving cheap dry freight [that's not even time-sensitive], the more parking spaces are available in the truck stops.austinmike, LoneCowboy, crazybread and 1 other person Thank this. -

A team driving 250,000 miles per year making .60 per mile will make $150,000 plus throw on $5,000 for bonuses and extra pay, and each driver would get $77,500.crazybread and #1don Thank this. -

I am still very interested in doing teams and just guess that I would find out if it's for me when I go with a trainer. Unfortunately for me I am still waiting on my sleep after machine before I go with a company. So I was watching some videos that some drivers were getting unloaded while on sleep duty for 10 hours but they only take like 7 to unload you and they Force you to move the truck knowing he would be against DOT regulation is this true?

Not sure how it works in other places but around here teams split the rate as well so I don't see how it's worth it. I make .44/mile and our team drivers split that for .22/mile. You can run double the miles if you want but I'd much rather make 60k a year in the truck alone than make 60k a year sharing a closet with a stranger. Not to mention sleep while the rig is moving and try to make shower stops work for both, etc.
