At Rockwell city now on us 20 ( jolly) wind hard out of the north and snowing.
Still wet tho calling for a few inches ...will be out of here tmw morning.Wasted Thyme Thanks this. -
I think the coldest I can ever remember was on I-80 in western Wyoming. The wind blowing so hard it shook the truck. The wind chill had to be at least 20 below. Thankfully I had an APU and it kept my truck warm. I was told (not confirmed it) that the apu also kept my fuel in my tanks warm and kept the fuel moving. Gosh it gets cold out there.
Wasted Thyme and bzinger Thank this. -
Depending on fuel treatment , wind and forecast low temps ill idle up if needed ...gotta get pretty dam cold tho ...my carrier struggles below - 10f .

Where I grew up and now live, we get -20 pretty much every year.
Without windchill.
just sayin.feldsforever and bzinger Thank this. -
What about those shore power hook-ups I used to see years ago at some truck stops?
bzinger Thanks this. -
They have shore power at our terminal. Seems like a great idea, but I'm told it only powers the 2 auxiliary 120 Volt outlets in the sleeper. It doesn't charge the batteries, nor does it provide power for the 12 Volt outlets. (This on a Cascadia, I don't know if other brands are similar, or not.)
My biggest power drain is the built in fridge, for which, the Shore Power is no help. Seems like a short-sighted setup, to me.
