Hi all,
I am thinking about taking my Class 1. I do earn a fair wage but the problem is that it is so seasonal that when I do make money it never lasts the periods when I have down time.
So as a new driver and I am sure that this question has been asked a million times what can a new driver living in the Kamloops area of BC could earn ? From my 0% on trucking knowledge it seems driving in the oil fields will earn more money. Is this correct ? I know it would mean leaving home a lot of the time, but I want to provide a better wage for my family.
Now I have to ask, is the whole Ice Road Truck thing a viable job ?
Thanks in advance
Andrew

Truckers face worse everyday than they do on that program. The cold makes it a novelty that is sellable to the public. It makes its money from selling advertising, not hauling freight. -
Yes, the Ice Road Truckers make good money, check out Sean Sutherland on YouTube he drove the Ice Roads this past winter.

Ice roads and winter roads can be money makers, but I've never heard of a greenhorn going into it. Usually you need a good amount of OTR experience before companies will look at you for something like that.
