went through training for 1 week and started to really miss home(my 2 year old daughter) so i left, i can get a job back home for 13/ hour but trucking pays more than that, the company has not turned in my termination yet cause they want to make sure that i don't want to come back. I enjoy being home with my family, its just that i can make more driving truck, even though the other job pays enough for me to live comfortable. Any suggestions?
is it worth it

Stay home with your family. Get your cdl and find a local job that allows you both things that you want. If you can't take it now you'll never make it OTR not knowing where your going, when you'll be home to see them and the possibilty of not seeing them for 3,4,5,6 or more weeks at a time. Good luck but your probably better off that you decided now instead of later. Take your 13/hr job and go to a local community college to get your cdl then find that local job and enjoy it. Good luck whatever you do.

Take the $13 an hour job and sleep well knowing your daughter can see her dad every night. Quality time in a loving home is worth far more then the things trucking can provide, which isn't as much as one would think. Compared to all the hours you spend out on the road that you don't get paid for, you're better off at home with this other job.

I agree! Stay home!
I would gladly give back EVERY PENNY I made driving if I could get back the last 15 years of memories that I gave up to drive a tucking fruck!
IT IS NOT WORTH IT!!!Paddington and CommDriver Thank this. -
Only you can answer that. While you can get that job for 13 an hour and be home nightly is that 13 an hour going to get you the quality of life you want/desire/expect for your daughter and you? I would say to make a "pro's and con's" list. While it may seem basic, it puts everything down on paper so you can see it and review it for what it is.
The guys above (and shortly..... below) all have valid feedback and speak from a real world perspectice. Unfortunately there is no real answer to your question....that lies with you.

sounds like good advice for a family man to stay home and help with the kids!!!!,,you can have the best of both worlds but ,not with otr, seems with otr and if your a company driver you would burning the candle at both ends,,your family is more important,,,when you drive for a company your at there mercy unless you are a o/o and at that piont you can make your own choices, but unless you got a chunck of money to thro away find something at the house and be there with your family instead of them playing phone tag and wondering when you will pass thru again,,,,,,,,just my advice and opinon,,,
