I have read so many horror stories about getting to trucking.
Is it worth it to try and suck it up and deal with it until you get to
be a seasoned driver ? Im estimating it take about 2 years, then it sounds like it becomes much easier from there

    thx

this industry is not a job it is a life style. so you have to deside that within yourself. In every industry you will pay your dues. trucking is no differant. If you listen to any person in any industry you will get a large percentage of them that will feed you sour grapes. This job is just like any it is what you make it. plain and simple.

    good luck

as with any job you get what you put into it , sit around truckstops/home makes you no money or driving experiance , but like he pointed out its a lifestyle and you have to be able to put your life asside for a while till you get the experiance . if your younger and not married give it a try as its a great way to make money as you have no real expenses as you truck will be your home ( freind of mine did this 20 years ago and now is retired with a nice house ) . but if your a partier or have to be with freinds on the weekend or with family I would say look elsewhere otherwise your not going to make the money till you get the experiance . most people quit as they are thinking this is a structured business it is not we drive 24/7 as the load has to be there mostly on a schedule , so some days you have to wake up at 12 am or some at 12 pm , also you have to not be afraid to use public toliets , take showers at truck stops ,do laundry at truckstops ect .

I think it's worth it if you really want to drive a truck. If you're just doing it for the money, I'd look for something else.

Im looking forward to the lifestyle aspect of if. I sometimes wonder if good drivers have been terminated because of bad dispatchers and DM who need to cover their ###. .. but it is like you guys have said .."Try It" ... I guess that is all I can do and see if I succeed... and if I dont then I guess I move on and deal with any financial loss or driving record that resulted...those things can be overcome over time
    thx

I do not think many would disagree with what I am about to say,in many regards, you will have to find your own "way" in this thing called trucking..,-what will work great for your best friend.,will bite "you" in the ###.,So,pretend you are Moses for a couple years, trying to find the promised land..:biggrin_255: I wonder, was that blasphemy??:biggrin_25524:

What, pretending we are Moses, or "trying to find the promised land"? In trucking, what (where) exactly is the promised land?
