Driving someone else's tractor on a yard. Basically shuttling trailers in and out of dock doors staging them in drop areas. $800 a day 10 hour work days Monday thru Friday? I get a percentage of the $800. I'd have to drive my personal vehicle some 200 miles to the facility, then commute from my hotel room daily to the terminal. Probably have about $500-600 in expenses on the week for the room + meals. Zero miles on my equipment this seems ok. Almost seems like a no brainer? This during busy season where rates are good for me though. Could potentially gross $20-$25K with my own truck in a month, not by any means a given though.. ..what would you guys do?

First of all what kind of a percentage? 10% would be $80.00 a day. 20% would be $160.00 a day. 30% would be $240.00 a day.
There's 400 miles round trip plus miles to/from hotel...in my vehicle that would cost over $100.00 for gas---how much for you?
Now add in the gas, and you're up to $600-700. Right?

At 30% of the $800.00 a day ($240.00) times 5 days equals $1,200.00 for the week minus 17.5% income tax equals $990.00 net minus $650.00 expenses equals $340.00 in the bank.

I'm at 89% my pickup that I commute in burns diesel gets 22mpg highway. I'm sure $600 will cover my commute fuel, hotel, and meals.

Yard dog? Or regular tractor? It's gonna be a really annoying time if it's a standard road tractor, even if it does have a lift on the 5th wheel.

Good question I didn't think of. Don't know all the details yet. This is going to be hard work and hustle sure enough but 10 hours a day max for sure.

I think it could be worth it, depending on what you want. but if they are paying you $712 out of $800 and that is all they are getting, I would worry about how long it would last. I'm not sure how the owner runs the truck for $88 bucks a day. Too much like a 9 to 5 for me and your still away from home 5 days a week.

IF it sounds to good to be true....
But I've signed up for it. But this thread should be killed just in case it all is true.

    It's $70/hour .... it's JPMorgan rookie pay.

I am the owner of my truck leased to a company. It stays in the driveway while I contract to do this job. The work is several weeks. But I am always skeptical of too good to be true. It seems pretty good tradeoff though. No wear on.my equipment.
