Ive had a FAF for a little over 4 years. Like stated previously no measurable mpg gain. It takes me less than 30 minutes to wash and then a couple hours to air dry,15 minutes to re-oil,assemble. Someone is doing it wrong
. I just wait till im home and outside working in the yard or the like.

I would just use papar filter and not waste more than $300 for faf.

The problem with most OEM air boxes they are just too small, not enough of dead air space to make any difference. The FAF dose trap more dirty air then a paper one.

As for whether the FAF or stock filter traps more dirt, I think it is a wash. My silicon levels (dirt) in the oil samples I ran both with FAF and stock filters was pretty close to the same. The FAF, maybe 1 point higher, but that doesn't even really "move the meter" so to say. They both do a decent job of filtration. The key is really does the FAF provide any appreciable performance and mpg gains. Some maybe to some folks. I never saw it. All I ever experienced with the FAF was being able to hear the turbo spool up.
As a side note, when running the FAF, I was getting some fuel dilution I could not account for in my oil samples. Once I got back on stock filters, that went away. The fuel dilution was not critical, but it did show up. What caused it by using the FAF, I have no clue. Maybe just one of the freak things of nature. -

If you're the guy to rush. Then I would prefer paper filter. With FAF filters, you can have that time at home.

You'd be better off with a K&N or stick with a quality paper filter.
