I'm going to guess the answer is no. Lantus is a long acting injectible insulin and from all my research, as I am a border line diabetic, no insulin is allowed by DOT. The rational I got from the DOT doc is people dependent on insulin have issues with too high and too low of blood sugar readings that people taking oral diabetes medications don't have. Inject insulin now and 45 minutes later your asleep with a blood sugar crash or inject it late and you're sugar is so high you have severe headache and pass out.

Thats not completely true. You can drive as an insulin dependent diabetic if your under a Doctors care , have a history of at least 6 months of it being under control and you get a waiver from the DOT.Archer#6 Thanks this. -
Thank you i was led to believe that you can as BIG SAM said. Lantus is amazing, Iv',e never had an issue while on this medicine it keeps me completely under control

yep gotta get the waiver plan on about 7 months to get the waiver
Archer#6 Thanks this. -
that's just not true with lantus,it's not even made the same way as regular insulin
-
Lantus is the same as levimer it is a slow acting insulin still nd a waiver
Archer#6 Thanks this. -
Lantus is approved as long as you get the waiver from FMCSA. I was taking both Lantus and Apidra until I got my new insulin punp a few weeks ago. Now I don't need Lantus because the pump drips Apidra into me slowly over time.
