I check the fifth wheel release every time I come back to the truck regardless of how long I've been away

Of course, when you DO your walk-around, when you return to the truck and BEFORE you get in, (you do do a walk-around, right ?) you would notice things like 5th wheel pin having been pulled/tandems pin being pulled/2x4 with nails placed under your trailer tires/trailer doors open things like that.....usually done by a disgruntled ex-employee of your company. Good idea to check your fuel caps too.

Park with tension on the 5th wheel jaws. Show me a man strong enough to release that 5th wheel (besides myself, of course) and Ill show you a real ######.

I stop at a very nice, clean small truck stop. When ever I fuel up, and come back outside, before I climb in, I do a quickie walk around, and check my rear door, and 5th wheel connection. Even though were I stop it is a nice well lite up area? I take NO chances of some a-hole that just wants to be funny. Our trucks are "lease trucks" and as such, not probably a target of a deranged madman, but rather a "prankster" that thinks he is being funny.

Like someone else said, if caught by me doing that?? He will get dowsed with a piping hot cup of coffee. But not my danish!!!

I hold the line at throwing that!!!

Do a walk around EVERY TIME you return to your truck. Hell, even if you are at YOUR terminal, you have a-holes.

I try to always remember to park with tension too. I pull reefers, and last year while carrying a candy load out west I noticed my reefer set temp had been set to -20 while I was eating. No it's not that common, but it does happen.

Wow that's awful.. Like what was mentioned before, You could hurt or kill innocent people by doing something like that.. I mean if someone was upset at the company, Why in the world would they take it out on you? I guess some people just don't look at the big picture. You really can't trust anyone these days.

I woke up one morning and someone had disconnected the trailer supply line. Couldnt figure out why, kinda wierd seeing more posts about trailer gremlins. I guess it happens more than what I thought.
