    @Steelersjunkie,
    Do you know much about regional? I think the drivers get the smaller trucks but I am curious about miles etc.
    Thanks!

    I drive southeast regional based in GA. I average about 2200 miles per week. Thats with every weekend off, home Friday and leave out on Monday 95% off the time. Some run more miles but they usually are home on Saturday or leave out on Sunday. Running weekends are optional and I know a lot of guys who run every other weekend or run every saturday but I like my weekends home.
    About the trucks, the bunks are smaller, but remember I'm home every weekend. They don't have cabinets but I still have the sat tv and refrigerator. The reason for the smaller bunks is regional trucks regularly scale almost 50,000 lbs in the trailer so the tractors need to be lighter.

    I'm not sure if all regional guys get the smaller trucks. From what I've seen so far though, most do. You'll have Directv and a single bunk sleeper. I don't know if there is a spot for a microwave. The miles will be less, but it also depends on how you choose to to run. There are regional drivers that don't go home every weekend, by their choice. From what I have been told the runs tend to be shorter than OTR. The payoff of course would be the home time. Also, the pay structure is changing, I believe that is happening on the first of the year. You'll want to check with your recruiter. I just got a letter about it, it was a little vague. But I think pay is going up across the board. As @L.B. mentioned, the loads are heavier, so the trucks are smaller to save weight. Every terminal has runs that are unique to that terminal, and there are some dedicated routes as well available to regional drivers. Those are definitely worth looking into. There is one in Trenton that I am very interested in but the drivers on that run have been doing it a long time, and openings are rare. When you are choosing regional vs. OTR you also have to consider what your monthly averages will be, not so much the weekly. For example...I'm averaging 2800 a week. Once the holidays are over I'll be running 3 and a half weeks out, 4 days home. If you use @L.B. as an example, and 2200 miles a week it averages out to be about the same because he/she is running full weeks every week. Again, the pay structure is changing and I don't know if there will be a difference in pay between OTR and regional. If there isn't, there's a very good chance I'll be going to regional. My last run was 6 weeks. I like the long runs but I know that my wife and kiddo would definitely like to see me more.

    Congrats. Keep us posted please.

    Does anyone happen to know if the Millis recruiters are all at the Black River Falls location or are they scattered in different areas?

    SHOJim Thanks this.
