Very productive post Passin Thru once again your intelligence is showing. Please use your vast knowledge to post the regulation that shows that they are exempt.

The rules snow plowing may very well be different then when a piece of equipment is loaded on a trailer. I do not know that is why I am asking if anyone has an answer.

Ya did right emailing them......personally I could care less if they actually have to pull a permit to haul a plow.....but they SHOULD at least hang flags and signs to not make it look QUITE so "in your face"!! LOL

Basically all I see is the flags and signs missing, other then that it looks secured and all, as far as permits if I remember correctly Mn requires oversize unless you have a blanket which they would most likely have. All in all, no flags, signs or strobes, at least visible one from pic.

Even though your right, that's playing with fire, but if you really want to take it to another level. You can send the picture to this messed up Media and they would take it to another step.

Mindset. Years ago when I drove for a Muni I was hauling a piece of equipment & the operator was passenger, got the "pull over" at the coop. Operator (old hand close to retirement) jumps out and yells at DOT "you see those plates, we are exempt, f-you!", DOT explains "exempt" means plates, not rules, operator continues rant. DOT (more than one at this point) comes to me and says "your partner just brought down a world of hurt on you...." I used to have a copy of that one hanging on the office wall.

Direct from the MN General conditions for oversized load guide.

Here is where the mistake is being made....

Looks to me that this load is closer to 10 feet than it is 9. Even if that is a 96" wide trailer.

Looks to be one of those tilt deck equipment trailers you see behind dump trucks because the blade is lower than the tires on the plow truck.

When I worked for the county and Kansas, we were told cops weren't going to mess with us as long as we weren't speeding. Always tried to flag stuff, if needed etc but there were a lot of times we never secured anything properly. They wanted me to run somewhere once and said I didn't need a log book. So I called KS DoT and they told me the same thing. Said if the scale is open, they will just wave me by when they see it was a KS truck. Told me if I go out of state, might need to follow regulations but in state, no LEO would mess with me.

And that's the ####### thing about it. One inch over width as a contract hauler and you can be burned at the stake. State or gov truck, meh.

I have not got a response from my email but they said it could take 3 days. I believe those that set and enforce the rules need to lead by example. I bet my local sheriff occasionally gets tired of my phone calls and emails. Lol
