Actually, I still have my hard copy CB federal license, KKM-####, issued to me back in '77.

Wasn't it MA that failed to pull a dopers CDL, who then went on to take out a bunch of bikers in NH last year? Yeah, thought so...

Yes that is true to a point but the legal aspect is - it is a regulated radio service therefore not subject to local or state laws.

Same here, it's here somewhere, not sure how many channels it had, but I do remember having to get crystals for whatever channels you wanted in order for it to work...

Yep, an HT will get you a ticket just like a cell phone will :(

That's not what ARRL said, the press releases all addressed the concerns but offered no advice or concrete concerns that it would happen. The ARRL was trying to get the broad language in the law removed and exemptions put into the bill.

BUT silence since 2018 on the issue.

I would not worry about it, a cop is unlikely to give a ticket for using an HT than he/she is for any other trivial thing.

The county in AZ that flagstaff is in also has a CB use distraction law. Got pulled and was given a warning about 3 years ago.

Not exactly.. The way the CA law is written, you could get a valid ticket using any Handheld two-way radio while driving.. To avoid a ticket, you must use a radio that is MOUNTED to or under the dash.. Yeah, I know WTF is the difference, you'll have to ask all those smart law makers at the Capitol for the answer.....
