I seem to be the bearer of bad news. Just one week away from my trip to Stevens I had a sudden pain in my abdomen which turned out to be my appendix. Just had it removed but am wondering what this will do to my trucking plans.

I would think as long as you get some documentation noting you're cleared for OTR driving and you're not taking any pain killers you should be fine.

Only his physician can give a reasonable time line.

Trainees normally get the top bunk so you'd need to be able to climb as well.

Better that it happened before you hit the road than on the road....

Everyone heals and recovers from things at a different rate... so there is no set answer that we can give...

You, your Dr. And whatever company you are going with will have to figure it out...

But, truly, be grateful it happened before you hit the road... and have a speedy recovery...

You will be healed and back in about 2-3 weeks. Even sooner if the surgery was laparoscopic. Just be sure to mention on your next and future DOT physicals in the next 5 years. Would be best to keep a copy of the return to work letter from your doctor to give to future medical examiners too. The more documentation you provide, the less problems, since most DOT physicals are done by medical examiner you have never seen before. Get well soon! :)
