I just moved to Texas. My CDL is valid but in another state. I am having trouble transferring my CDL from state to state due to my lost citizenship certificate and passport. i have applied for the doucments but they will take several months to get them. I need to return to work ASAP. I know that my CDL is valid for the time being, but will Werner let me go back to work with an out of state CLD? or does it have to be current in the state i live?
Is my CLD valid?

Your license is SUPPOSED to be transferred to your CURRENT address within 30 days of moving...
§ 383.71 (c) License transfer. When applying to transfer a CDL from one State of domicile to a new State of domicile, an applicant must apply for a CDL from the new State of domicile within no more than 30 days after establishing his/her new domicile.
...you could PROBABLY get away with it, though, if you keep quiet and don't tell anyone that you have moved. If you are asked by law enforcement if you still live at that address, you'd better either claim you still live there or that you just moved within the past 2-3 weeks (so that you are still inside that 30 day window) otherwise you could get a ticket for not updating your license to your current address. -

I guess you drive from state, Where you drop your dirty socks don't matter. Yes it's legal. I was told my address was listed as a store room. Yes it is. The office gets my mail. Don't worry about it.

If you have a valid cdl and can drive, the 48 states is all they want to know. I came to them with 20+ years behind the wheel. Drove a gently used KW for about 2 months. Then a brand new Freightliner. They buy nice trucks. They want to keep good drivers. Had the wife with me, so we didn't care to much about home time. She didn't drive, but loved to tell Me where to go! She had a bag full of maps, we only got lost once. But that is another story.

texas has a 30 day grace, If your residency is texas then you have to change. I was close to being shut down cause of my address on my license not being current and it was still a texas address. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, I ran on a utah license for 6 months til I changed it, But if you get pulled over depends on the officer, I been inspected several times and no one said anything. Just becareful.
