I feel the way i do because my time is as valuable as theirs. Remember, they never said a word about a 4 hour wage-free commute.

Let's look at this another way. Given a choice, would you take the job I have knowing up front what it entailed? Of course you wouldn't, unless you had to. I took it because I was under the impression, based on their statement that "they pay ALL miles-loaded and unloaded that I would be paid for ALL the miles I drove zipcode to zipcode.

I have already said that had I known the details I would have opted out of the situation in favor of something that benefited me, because as is the case with all employees- we seek what's best for US.

Because of a combination of me not knowing the correct questions to ask and my company's unwillingness to be transparent about the situation, I feel like I was mislead and am being taken advantage of. It's that simple.

I came here to see if that thought was a valid one and based on the opinions here the answer to that question is yes AND no.

So how would you feel if you were the guy that lived 5 miles from the yard and found out the company was paying another guy to drive in from 135 miles away? Bet you'd be pissed.

Sorry, and no offense, but that's the most asinine thing I have ever read.

In one fell swoop, you assume that I MUST TAKE THIS JOB regardless of whether I want to or not.

You also did not read my post, or you did not comprehend it.

What part of" They did not inform me that 4 hours of my day would be driving their equipment(and being responsible for it" WITHOUT PAY did you not understand?

    Maybe you can understand this...

I hire you to mow a lawn. I say i will pay you 50 dollars to do it. When you finish, I show up and hand you 35 dollars. What happens next?

You ask me where the other 15 dollars are, right?

Then I say, yeah-that's for the gas I spent to bring you your money.

Now, based on your logic, you'd be totally cool with that, right?

Seriously? That makes no sense. That guy who lives 5 minutes away doesn't waste four hours of his work day FOR FREE. His clock starts when he arrives at his truck and he is paid for every single mile he drives. Why would he care?

What? You can't answer a simple question?

Would you be cool with the 35 dollars?

I read most of the stuff in all 3 pages... It says you just got out of training.. is 4 months all you have ever had in trucking industry?? I had a job once like you have in my 11 years of trucking and I didn't complain one bit.. yea I didn't make any money driving their truck to my house, but I didn't have to pay for fuel either and it wasn't any wear and tear on my car... so I just kept to myself and enjoyed the free ride... If you start to say stuff then you will be driving your car and spending your gas.. so I would just keep quiet for a while..

    Or

I could just ride it out a month or so and go on with my life.

Based on the sarcastic nature of your post, I'm sure a guy like you knows all about helping other truckers out!

I put them in trucks for $0. Tutor them, put six figures in their wallet, then unleash them on the world.

    So yea, you're right.

So you're a salesman. I'm sure you do all of that out of the kindness of your heart.
