To all the people who feel that I should be thankful that my company allows me to take their equipment home every night. Let me ask you a question, what happens if I wreck that vehicle on the way home? Will I be held responsible for that? Does that mean, ultimately, that I am responsible for their equipment and responsible for the load that comes home with me most of the time? Now, if I'm responsible for the load, and the vehicle, why in God's name shouldn't I be paid for that responsibility? I wish one of you geniuses who think these benevolent companies are going out of their way to improve my existence would answer that simple question, but I know you won't because you're only objective is to talk down to anyone who comes on here with a question and that fact is made clear by your responses on every other thread in this forum. To those who gave answers that made sense to anyone with common sense I thank you

    You're getting a deal.

They could make you park the company truck at the DC and let you figure out how to get to and from work every day. As it is, you don't have to pay for the fuel or the wear and tear on your own personal vehicle.

What would you do if you owned the truck?

Who would you suggest be responsible if you wreck the vehicle?

There was no mention of load that goes home with you before.

So does that load move in an opposite direction from where you picked it up, or back the same way?

I don't know why you are still driving there, and not down at the teamster hall, where you will be treated fairly.

Your post has me thinking about how many times I've been treated unfairly by the forum, the trucking industry, my ex wives, and my children. I fear the worst now.

In fact, for Christmas, they got me a blanket for my cats with a giant peace symbol in the middle.

It has me questioning God's purpose.

Not to derail the thread, but it's been my experience that unions only exist to help the lazy and incompetent remain employed and paid the same as or more than those who actually do their jobs efficiently.

This TA has no onions in the breakfast bar, but everything else is epic.

But no onions have just ruined it.

They are supposed to have onions.

I always heard that, then I started working at a union shop. At least here where I work and the auto plant, have a very 'brotherhood' outlook. Everyone is there to do a job and everyone makes sure it gets done. Everyone helps throughout the day. Sometimes it's as simple as opening doors in the dock, sometimes it's covering a run so one can go get lunch....
The plant is the same way. I guess when you know you will be working with these people for 20+ years, I at least get the attitude that I need to be friendly. Otherwise I'm just making my life harder than it needs to be.

Don't mind some of the advice given here on the forum. Bottom line is : what works for you or not
....if the money is not there talk to someone about changing something .
....if nothing can be changed about it , just smile and start looking for another job but DO NOT give them any indication of your next move.

The answer to your question is YES every driver is responsible but not liable to damages under a company owned vehicle

Yesterday I drove 4 miles total out of the way and went to TK for a press fitting for one of the fuel lines for the APU.

It's lasted 6 years, and over the artillery range california calls a highway, but got a hole in fuel line.

I fixed it when I stopped, took like 15 minutes.

I was given no extra pay for my milage to aNd from TK. And no breakdown or repair pay.

    The unfairness is overwhelming actually.

It takes like a good 30 to 40 minutes to warm up Casper when it's this cold, and I think this is also unfair.

I should get extra compensation for this warm up period.
