Been playing the trucking simulator for about 6 months now. Never, ever had to do it there. The game doesn't lie. I've never gotten a ticket at the scale in the game either because I keep my dash clean. No one has beat my high score yet either. I work part time at Wal Mart, so I'm always playing on my free time, plus my mom is always on my case! "Timmy are you playing that darn game again! You'll never learn will you!?" *SMH*

    I've been driving semi's about 3 months

My dad has been driving for 25 years, times he's had to parallel park? Zero.(he's been driving since 1989, 11 years with JB)

My grandfather was an O/O for 40 years, times he's had to parallel park? Zero.

I must be lucky. I have no problem parallel parking. Left or Right side .It doesn't matter. lots of rest areas are set up for it. So many times it is necessary just to have a place to park. It is a skill that can come in handy once in a while. The better half has woke me several times to tell me to park this thing. Yep, a rest area that had that kind of parking.

I tried the other day doing parallels on my own, which was a colossal failure, a month ago, I could do them perfectly

Maybe it was because I was on uneven ground, and every time I stopped the truck started rolling forward

Maybe my space I made was too large or too small

I had 2 cones, spaced 8 feet from the curb, and 70 feet apart

Practice practice practice.. then practice some more.. practice, practice, practice

Perhaps watching someone else do it may help

65 combined years and never once parallel parking a truck? That's hard to believe.

I don't parallel park often, a handful of times per year perhaps, but it does happen. Either in a rest area or there are several customers I've been to where parallel parking is a must-have skill. I had to parallel park my truck just last night matter of fact.

Does he drive a split axle flatbed? Make deliveries only to customers that have him park in the middle of the lot and they unload him there? It's possible, especially if he doesn't run 48. However, the majority of drivers, especially for dry van and those running in the northeast or stopping at rest stops like on I-40 in New Mexico will either parallel park or be "that guy" with his rig blocking the road or even refused at some customers.

Better to have the chops to parallel.

You have to Parallel park on your road test??? Either way, if he walked you though it, you wouldn't be the one doing it.

For the Texas test, you are NOT allowed to stop or get out of the truck. Which is why I said you're basically moving the truck 6-7 feet to the right. They weren't real fussy in Waxahatchie as long as you didn't touch the paint (curb) with your tires. Or run over any grass (curb)

From my experience it is a lot easier to parallel park between two big objects than it is between two cones or painted lines.

So I'm not allowed to get out and look?

My trainer told me this, guess he's not always full of it :p
