Is no vaping in hazmat jobs common?

Your going to stop that often anyway. Drive 3-4 hours your going to stop for a bathroom break. (Unless you dont drink anything) Another 3-4 hours and you have to take your 30. 3-4 hours later another bathroom break or your out of drive time. And your going to have deliverys, breakdowns and unforeseen stops. Where you can take a few minutes and vape. Its not always going to be like that I'm just saying your going to have to stop a few times a day anyway.

If you just don't want to deal with the camera/policy. There isnt anything wrong with that either. The TTR is a great resource to find a different company.

Go with a company that doesn't use driver facing cameras.

 

Some people keep the left door closed a little longer than 3-4 hours. Honestly, if you stop at 3-4 hours, why would you need to stop for your 30 3-4 hours later? If you stopped for a pee break, make it a 30.

 

Yup thats pretty much how i operate. I typically run 4 to 7 hours at a shot stop to take my 30 then roll again. Door closed = money. That said im also human and while i have a rather large bladder that only gets ya so far and there aint no one who can afford my rates to either piss myself or wear a diaper. Min rate for that is $50,000 a mile

 

Some companies have a no tobacco/nicotine policy.
Vaping requires a ‘electronic flame’ to make the vapor, thats why many hazmat employers ban vaping.

Just keep stopping every few hours for the vape if vaping is that important to you. You don't have to change jobs. EVERY solution, other than giving up vaping, is going to be more disruptive than just stopping every few hours.

 

Sitting for long periods of time is horrible for your body. My dad died from a stroke, sitting all day was part of the problem. And i drink a gallon of water every day. Drive for a few hours get out go to the bathroom and move around a little. Take my 30 when Im switching my trailers. Then stop once on the way home.
