Is Protection Necessary?

38 years well over 4million miles--every ####hole in every major city in country (woke up in Detroit this AM) you can go to pullin a reefer--nope no troubles--unless u count the occasional annoying hiway hostess--or beggars---do your job keep outta others biz--if you look for trouble you can find it---but keep ur wits about u--pay attention&you'll do fine

I feel more vulnerable in my car at the mall than I ever have at a t/s or S/R.

 

In my 22 years out on the road, the worst I have encountered has been panhandlers, hobos, lot lizards, and con artists. None of them ever appeared threatening to me and often appeared more afraid of me. I also always kept my eyes and ears open and walked with my head up. A fellow former co-worker of mine with UPS Freight who worked for a dedicated account servicing Papa John's was unfortunate to encounter pure evil in the early morning hours of March 23, 2014. While unloading product from his trailer at a Papa John's store while his co-driver was in the store rearranging product to prepare for the incoming delivery, 3 teenage punks pulled up in an SUV and shot this driver in cold blood for no good reason whatsoever! Even the US Secret Service will tell you that even they cannot always be prepared and trained enough for the downright crazy and evil people they could cross paths with. All I do is be aware of my surroundings and ask that God watch over me.

Laughing my ##### off!!!!..... But, I can relate.

 

Never had a problem. If I was single, the only protection I would carry were condons,don't need any little trucker rug rats running around.

 

Condoms aren't good protection, I knew a guy that always used them and still got shot!

My company would fire me on spot for carrying a gun or having one in the truck. Te other issue is even if my company's policy allowed it, my Washington Concealed carry permit is only valid in a handful of the the states I drive in. Pepper spray is the most I would carry......

 

If it worries you that much get into hauling Ag commodities. No one is going to hijack a load of alfalfa cubes.

What has worked for me is I look like a big burly biker because I'm a big burly biker. Doesn't matter if I can back it up, the look alone assures that people with ill intent look for easier prey.

 

I carry a gun and a knife both.To protect myself from Me.When I shave I have to hold a guy on myself to keep me from cutting my throat
