Some people are too stupid to leave home, safely, and will be victims wherever they go.
It is possible to get robbed, mugged, or worse, in some of the areas we have to go to, you just have to keep your eyes open, and doors locked.
Is Protection Necessary?

Last time I posted on one of these boards about how safe it is out here , I promptly began getting pestered by lizards , street hustlers , etc.
All I can say is good luckLeftnut Thanks this. -
Me personally, I like to have protection. In the old days, I carried my 38 spl in my briefcase, into and out of truckstops/ shippers everywhere. The only time I thought I might need it was at a rest stop in Ct. where a ### cruised up slowly to my truck while I was doing my paperwork before hitting the bunk. he kept flashing his lights and I was ignoring him. Funny, there was only 1 other vehicle in this rest stop. I love Az. where i"m a part time resident and you can open carry or conceal carry anywhere. But I have to tell you some drivers can irritate the hell-o out of me and I feel like I would pull my weapon and blow them away if they continued to bother me. And that scares me.

I drove otr solo for 9 yrs of my carreer and never had trouble.Besides how is guns suppose to help if you're sleeping. If someone wants to hijack you, they're going to do so and you can't stop them.Especially if a couple thugs are there.

Might be better off getting mace or bear spray. You might also want to Google "wasp spray urban myth" and check into the legality of using a poison as a weapon. It is illegal in quite a number of states.crb Thanks this. -
Obviously, situational awareness and smart practices like stopping at full/well lit truck stops, not smarting off to someone that might have a gun, not being aggressive are all going to help. But do I really need to assume that every car following me, every person approaching me, is going to try to mess...
All good things to practice now but alittle paranoid maybe, jmo.
37yrs never a problem and back in the day those dim lit trkstp's was where the fun was, Alameda, Ontario 76', Calumet, most I can't remember....pretty foggy back then.
