Is putting snow chains on a small car the same as on a CMV?

There are companies that do that! That's why I said in the winter time, I'd rather be kept in the Midwest and Northeast lol, I haven't driven in the snow yet but I don't wanna find out. I've talk to another driver in my company who's been here longer than me and I think he said that they don't want us to chain and he doesn't chain either. Maybe I should double check with dispatch on their chain policy.

Chaining makes sense about 10 percent of the time.. maybe you just have one mountain to pass... And then you're rolling at highway speed again..other than that no thanks.. sounds like you just need to get your time in and find a local job or regional.. keep that record clean and you can do that.. probably a lot better money given the time invested.. plus you see home a lot more.. Snow driving is not bad, but never drive on icy roads..

Might help a little, but still not the same as chaining up a truck.

It's good that a company will pay you to shut down. As long as the pay equals what you would have made driving. But I've seen companies that want to pay lie $100-$150 a day to sit and that's not going to get it.

Yeah... Going home after a month and a half out, I'll be there Friday to Tuesday, I'll be sleeping the whole time... Wednesday it's back out on the road, #### feels like I'm wasting my time away LOL!! Honestly, after two years of trucking, I'm already ready to hang the keys, I just miss a normal life you know, well sometimes... I think getting a local trucking job would be worse in my opinion, I mean for me, I probably wouldn't like going through all these #### red lights, maybe I'm wrong, I don't know what I'm doing anymore. I thought because I was an introvert that I would like trucking, and BOY was I wrong!! Trucking, was NOT what I expected, and don't get me wrong I like it for the solitude part of it and even though I never went anywhere before I got into trucking but ####, I missed being home by 5PM in the afternoon and having weekends off, you know, a normal life LMFAO!! So yeah, I'm looking to get out entirely, I'm looking, I just haven't found anything yet, so I'm just going with the flow right now but I feel like I'm missing my chances everyday that's passing.

I understand, trucking helped me a lot when I was OTR, dealing and processing the sh#t I dealt with in Policing.. I needed the solitude.. it actually healed me a lot. I wish you the best in finding whatever career path is best for you, you're still really young, but also a man at the same time . Always go with your gut.. I'm sure you will find your way..

    Yeah, man.

Yeah man, I mean, going out for weeks, coming home for 4 days then back out, doing that for 20-30 years? Doesn't sound like living to me, right? Lmao!! I thought all I was going to do is drive in trucking, but I was wrong, I'm 26, about to be 27 in December, I feel like I'm to old already so I gotta find something quick before I get stuck here lol.

Local jobs mean using your home just to sleep & shower plus spending all day in stop & go traffic.

Lots of people remember some long car trip, liked it, and think trucking is getting paid to make those long car trips. Trucking is nothing like that car trip & the 90 other things you must deal with daily or weekly come with zero training & lots of complaints you did it wrong.
