I use the Google map app on my Sprint phone, works great most of the time, although they are a little outdated and has shown a field as the location, I know some of the maps are from 09

I always use google maps to look at the shipper and consignee. Great way to figure out where the gates and docks are.

Yeap google maps is part of my trip planning, and with the new update, you can download maps before hand if you think it may have spotty service where you are going

The Garmin does follow opti pretty close, but sometimes there are differences when they force opti to avoid a certain road, or something like that. It is always a good idea to check before you take off, to avoid problems down the road. As far as google maps goes, it is great for trips, especially into NYC and the other northeast cities. Alot of times you can use street view and see what the building looks like that you need to deliver to. It can also help you plan your escape route to get out of town after the delivery.

I have the rand mcnally gps. Got a used one on the cheap. I still refer to my droid for customer local looks. Heck the gps doesn't have a lot of newer addresses even. Some roads don't exist too. I mainly follow my routing from Roehl. Just double check it!

The gps, google maps, atlas, they are all tools. There is not a signle one that gives us the whole picture. But when we put them all to good use, then you can be well prepared for your trip. The difference between a successful driver and one who is not, is how well you learn to plan and use the tools that are available to you.
